Holidays, Husbands, Headaches, Hormones…

HOLIDAYS, HUSBANDS, HEADACHES, HORMONES—As if we didn’t have enough to do in our As if we didn’t have enough to do in our day, we are about to add “the most wonderful time of the year”—or is it “stressful time of the year”?—to our already packed schedules. Just thinking about the holidays is enough to cause elevated blood pressure and turn one into the “wicked witch of the West”!
Without giving you an exhaustive biology lesson, it is important to fully understand that a body out of balance can really impact your well-being. When things go “haywire” in a woman’s hormonal system, it can become a humpty dumpty situation—everything comes tumbling down at once and can’t be put back together. More often than not, when a woman is going through hormonal fluctuations, she doesn’t even know what is wrong with her, let alone be able to explain it to her husband and family. When the body is in balance, it is like a beautifully orchestrated symphony: all the parts are doing what they are supposed to do in proper balance.
The best thing a woman can do is to become educated with what might be going on during the emotional phases of her life.
- Help Yourself Learn
Learn.Learn all you can about your particular problem area and take advantage of the resources available to you. Here are several websites that might be a help:

www.progest50.com
www.womantowoman.com

- Help Your Friends
Talk about experiences, learn together, and support one another in prayer, understanding, compassion, and love.
- Have a Diet Overhaul
Stay with the basic food groups. Keep calorie intake at a safe minimum level and maintain a healthy level of activity to burn those calories. Diet changes are necessary for good hormonal health.
- Reduce Tension.
All tension will eventually discharge. The key is to deal quickly with the negative frustration, anger, and tension before they discharge in a way that can hurt relationships and your body.
The holidays are such a special time with family and friends. Do all that you can to make them a special memory for all. If you take the necessary steps to keep your body in good working order, you will enjoy the holidays so much more; and it truly can be “the most wonderful time of the year”!
